For the fourth time since the start of the war, Cardinal Konrad Krajewski has traveled to Ukraine on the pope's behalf to deliver humanitarian and spiritual aid to the Ukrainian people.
While in the town of Zaporizhnia, the head of the pope's charity office came under fire by Russian forces. The cardinal escaped safely, and continued his journey through Eastern Ukraine.
The next day, he traveled to Izium, where he prayed before mass graves and visited the site where Ukrainians were tortured.
So far, officials of Ukraine's Defense Ministry say that at least 440 unmarked graves have been discovered after Russia's withdrawal from the city.
The cardinal is headed to Kyiv, and from there will return to Rome.
