World Youth Day is still eleven months away, but Pope Francis has sent a message to help young people prepare for it.
In his message, he encourages them to reflect on what their priorities are and what moves them. He also suggests that they contemplate the current humanitarian crises to avoid falling into a culture of indifference.
Throughout his pontificate, Pope Francis has asked young people to have the courage to face life's problems, to learn to accept themselves as they are, and to not forget about their grandparents, from whom they have so much to learn.
POPE FRANCIS
The future belongs to young people. Beware, however! Young people with two qualities: young people with wings and with roots. With wings to fly and roots to stand on the ground. Wings to fly, to dream, to create; and roots to receive from the elders the wisdom they offer you.
World Youth Day in Lisbon will be held from August 1 to 6 next year, although it will be celebrated at a diocesan level on November 20.
