After praying the Angelus, Pope Francis characterized his trip to Kazakhstan to participate in the Congress of Leaders of World Religions as a “pilgrimage of dialogue and peace,” and asked for the prayers of the faithful to accompany him on his trip.
POPE FRANCIS
It will be an opportunity to meet many religious representatives and dialogue as brothers, animated by the common desire for peace, the peace for which our world is thirsting.
Although the Pope's trip takes place primarily to participate in the congress, it will be the second apostolic journey of a pope to Kazakhstan, after John Paul II traveled there in 2001.
Pope Francis then recalled the death of the Italian nun who was killed when terrorists descended on the Catholic mission in Chipene, Mozambique, and shot her in the head.
POPE FRANCIS
At this time of prayer, I want to fondly remember Sister Maria de Coppi, the Comboni missionary, who was killed in Chipene, Mozambique, where she served with love for nearly sixty years. May her witness give strength and courage to Christians and to all the people of Mozambique.
The Pope also prayed for the people of Ukraine living through war, and reflected on Sunday's Gospel reading, urging Christians to be a source of warmth for those who feel unloved.
