Pope Francis welcomed members of the Caritas Spain delegation together with Cardinal Juan José Omella, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the institution.
The Pope praised the work they have done over the years and encouraged them to continue to build a more humane world.

The Church, as the mystical body of Christ, spreads its work throughout history. For this reason, Caritas presents itself as Christ's outstretched hand when we offer it to those in need.
Looking at our brother who has fallen, let us not forget that the only time it is permissible for us to look down at a person is to help him to get up. Nothing else.
Pope Francis has set the guidelines for the work to be carried out in the coming years. He also showed his affection for the Caritas family through the people who attended the audience.

For some of the members of the council, it was the first time they had seen the Pope in person, and for many others, in such a small audience. He was very friendly, very spontaneous, and he filled us with enthusiasm and joy. We saw that he was very happy and is committed to encouraging Caritas in its work.
Pope Francis was attentive and enthusiastic. For the members of the delegation, their meeting with the Pope gave them renewed energy to continue their work.

He has been telling us some important things for a long time. And of course, for me, the message that he sent us on the occasion of our 75th anniversary were the guidelines to be followed by Caritas in general. And they are the three paths of which he has always spoken to us: the path of the lowest, the path of mercy and the path of renewal.
Caritas Spain is present in the 70 dioceses of the country and has more than 73,000 volunteers.
