At the end of the Mass in L'Aquila for the Jubilee of Pardon, Pope Francis prayed the Angelus with the pilgrims present and those who were unable to attend.
POPE FRANCIS
But first I want to greet all those who participated, even those who had to do so from a distance, at home, in the hospital or in prison.
Just as the Pope remembered the severe earthquake that hit L'Aquila in 2009, he also prayed for the victims of the serious flooding in Pakiston.
POPE FRANCIS
In this place, that has suffered a terrible disaster, I also want to express my sympathy to the people of Pakistan affected by the devastating floods. I pray for the many victims, the injured and the displaced, and also for swift and generous international support.
A dam collapse in Pakistan has caused an ecological disaster—more than 1,200 people have died and 33 million inhabitants have been affected.
