August 24 marks exactly six months since Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Caritas Internationalis launched a new appeal for peace stressing the high number of casualities and the worldwide consequences of the conflict.
In May, two representatives from Caritas and Caritas Spes-Ukraine came to Rome to meet with Pope Francis. These two branches have been providing assistance to more than 3.5 million people.

For Caritas, caring for the people in Ukraine is more than just the physical aspect, but they are also focused on the psychological side of the conflict as well.

A big part of the work that Caritas does is this way of being community and a way of being a welcoming community for others.
Caritas and Caritas Spes-Ukraine have distributed more than 2.8 million meals and food packages. Now, they are focused on helping the people in Ukraine prepare for winter with the hope that soon, there will be peace.
