The recent tragedies in Texas and Melilla have not gone unnoticed by the Vatican. In this tweet, the Pope expressed his sorrow for the recent tragedies, which claimed the lives of 46 people in Texas and at least 23 in Melilla.

The Pope has visited the regions where these two places are located.

In February 2016, Pope Francis celebrated Mass at the U.S.-Mexico border, where he prayed for the migrants who had died trying to cross the border and he blessed those who participated in the ceremony from the other side of El Paso.

Although the Pope has not visited Melilla, he did meet with a group of migrants at the Caritas headquartes in Rabat when he traveled to Morocco.

POPE FRANCIS
Any means of collective expulsion, which do not allow for the suitable treatment of individuals, are unacceptable. On the other hand, special legalization strategies, especially in the case of families and minors, should be encouraged and simplified.

The border between Spain and Morocco has been one of the most crucial points of migration in the Mediterranean region in recent months.
