The Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life is asking parishes to provide a service dedicated to couples in crisis. It is one of the recommendations made in the document “Catechumenal Itineraries for Married Life” newly published by the Vatican.
The document recommends that other experienced spouses act as mentors to couples in crisis. And it insists that they do not lose sight of the needs of each family's children.
The Dicastery hopes that this form accompaniment will not only be psychological but also spiritual, and will help couples recover their relationship with God and rediscover His presence among them.
Pope Francis described the document as a “fruit” of the Amoris Laetitia family year, which will end in June ahead of the 10th World Meeting of Families to be held in Rome.
