Hyperinflation, lack of employment, displacement, and hunger have caused a dramatic increase in poverty, suicides, and also the abuse of women and children.

This is what was affirmed by the Nuns who participated in a virtual meeting organized by Aid to the Church In Need. The nuns explained that their work is more difficult than ever, although, they can reach where others cannot, because being religious women, they are not considered a threat.

They said that in Syria the average salary is not enough to support a family even for a week and in Lebanon the situation is no better. The Pope, worried about the situation, wants to visit the area although there is no date yet.

POPE FRANCIS
We must strive, work, to strengthen Lebanon, because it is a country, a message, but it is also a promise.
I assure you of my prayers, my closeness and also my work speaking diplomatically with countries that can unite with Lebanon to help it get back on its feet.

The Pontifical Foundation “Aid to the Church in Need,” provides assistance to Syria and Lebanon, financing projects for the reconstruction of homes and churches, as well as psychological, economic, and spiritual support.

These programs, run by nuns, are a source of hope for families in a place where suffering continues.
