The second World Grandparents day presents a new incentive. All those who participate in their diocese events will receive a plenary indulgence, as long as they meet the remaining conditions: confession, communion, and prayer for the intentions of the Pope.
The Decree of the Apostolic Penitentiary states that those who cannot participate due to illness can still unite in spirit and earn the same indulgence.
It can also be earned by those who spend their time caring for or visiting an elderly person in need, even through a video call.
