Pope Francis expressed his sorrow for the murder of students and teachers at an American elementary school.

My heart is broken over the tragedy at the elementary school in Texas. I pray for the children and adults killed, as well as their families. It is time to say enough to the indiscriminate trafficking of weapons. Let us all work together so that tragedies like these do not happen again.
The pontiff pronounced these words at the end of Wednesday's public catechesis before thousands of pilgrims.
