The Secretary of the Relations with States Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher visited Ukraine on a three day trip.
He met with refugees at a parish dedicated to St. John Paul II. He also visited the Benedictine Monastery of St. Joseph in Lviv, which hosts about 100 refugees from other parts of the country.
The archbishop stopped in Bucha, one of the most devastated cities from the war. There, he prayed in front of a mass grave.

My visit is intended to demonstrate the closeness of the Holy See and Pope Francis to the Ukrainian people, particularly in light of Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
Archbishop Gallagher's visit also marked 30 years of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Holy See.
