How do you want to be remembered?
CARD. CARLOS AMIGO
Archbishop Emeritus of Seville
As a Franciscan who tried to serve God and his brothers.
This is the memory that the former Archbishop of Seville, Cardinal Carlos Amigo, wanted to leave behind.
He died at the age of 87 after two months of health complications due to a broken hip.
The Spanish Cardinal was a Franciscan and recounted what led him, as a young man, to leave his medical studies behind to enter the novitiate.
CARD. CARLOS AMIGO
Archbishop Emeritus of Seville
[The Franciscans] enjoyed little things. They saw everything with a positive outlook; they were interested in people. They listened intently to others when they spoke. There was a joy and a personal peace that captivated others. And I said: I would like to be like these people.
Cardinal Amigo was made a cardinal by Pope John Paul II in 2003.
