Spanish Cardinal Ricardo Blázquez turns 80 years old. He will no longer be eligible to vote in future papal conclaves.

Cardinal Blázquez is a member of several Vatican organizations. He was also president of the Spanish Episcopal Conference from 2005 to 2008 and also from 2014 to 2017.

On March 13, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him archbishop of Valladolid. And on February 14, 2015, Pope Francis made him a cardinal. He humbly accepted the position explaining how cardinals are meant to serve.

Archbishop of Valladolid (Spain)
The title, “Prince of the Church”, isn't used anymore...I think that appears only in the history books or is said by a few people who aren't up to date.

As Cardinal Blázquez celebrates his 80th birthday, the College of Cardinals now has 117 cardinal electors and 94 non-electors.
