The Basilica of Holy Cross in Jerusalem is one of the seven main churches of Rome. The Church has some of the relics of the crucifixion of Jesus.
For example, two of the thorns and the crown that Christ wore during the Passion, one of the nails, pieces of the Cross and the inscription written on it in several languages are all in this Basilica.

Seeing the relics of the Lord, the cross, the thorns, the finger of St. Thomas was very moving, and living the faith in a group and in Rome has been very exciting and has had a great impact on us.
To have them in front of you and it is very exciting.

We started praying the Creed and it was powerful because we were saying that I truly believe in all that I am seeing, all that God has done for me, that He died on the cross for me.
I got goosebumps because I really felt the love that God has for me and that He died on the cross out of love for me.
Other pilgrims came from Singapore and were also very moved by the relics.

You hear all these stories how Jesus died and everything, but seeing it in front of you, it's so surreal. For like a few minutes, I didn't know how to feel. I was just looking.
For Audrey, the thing that impressed her the most was seeing one of the nails.

Especially the relics. I mean, one of them is the nail, the nail that was driven into Jesus' flesh, and I thought, like wow, it´s huge. It must have hurt a lot, and, I mean, that´s how much He loved us.
Although the Catholic Church says that it is not required to believe in these relics, they do help make Christ’s Passion more real to us.
