Pope Francis visited several children recently arrived from Ukraine at the Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome. He greeted them and their families one by one.

These children suffer from neurological disorders, or cancer. Those more recently arrived have wounds from the war. The Pope gave each of them rosaries that he had blessed.

The following day, Pope Francis shared the impact the visit had on him during the Angelus.

POPE FRANCIS
I went to see the wounded children who are here in Rome. One was missing an arm; one had a head injury...innocent children.

The Bambino Gesù Hospital has taken in fifty Ukrainian children since the start of the Russian invasion. Currently, nineteen are still admitted there.
