These pilgrims from Cassino attended the Pope's General Audience. They wore traditional medieval clothing to celebrate their patron, St. Benedicti

NICOLETTA PITTIGLIO
Corteo Storico “Terra Sancti Benedicti”
“Every year for the past 30 years, we've honored this tradition commemorating St. Benedict, patron of Europe. His feast day is on March 21.'
We share this tradition with the cities of Norcia and Subiaco. We wear medieval outfits from the 13th century, and we put together historical reenactments.”

Because St. Benedict is the patron of Europe, each year the group carries a lit torch through various European cities. They were recently in Spain: in Madrid and Santiago de Compostela. And they attended the General Audience so Pope Francis would bless their torch.

On their way back to Cassino, they are looking forward to the day of St. Benedict on March 21, and are happy to have received the Pope's blessing.
