New fathers among Vatican City State employees will now be able to take three days of paternity leave instead of only one, which was formerly the rule.
They will be able to take them at any point within thirty days after the child's birth.
The text issued by the Vatican reads:
“The father employee is entitled to three days of leave for an economic treatment of 100% salary, calculated for all purposes related to the length of service.”
The laws of the Vatican City State are very different than other European countries on this matter. In Spain, for example, new fathers receive four months of paid paternity leave.
