The fourth and final group of Spanish bishops concluded their ad limina visit with this nearly three-hour meeting with the Pope.
Pope Francis noticed the absence of the Archbishop of Madrid, Card. Carlos Osoro, who could not attend after testing positive for Covid-19.
-'Greetings to Cardinal Osoro.'
As on other occasions, the bishops discussed pastoral matters with the Pope behind closed doors.
Pope Francis asked them to remain close to God through prayer, and to other bishops, priests and the people.
They also talked about delicate matters like the ideological colonization the Pope has mentioned in the past.
POPE FRANCIS
January 19, 2015
'Why do I say 'ideological colonization?' Because they take, they actually take the need of a people to seize an opportunity to enter and grow strong (through school textbooks) for the children. But this is nothing new. The same thing was done by the dictatorships of the last century. They entered with their own doctrine. Think of the Balilla, think of the Hitler Youth.'
The Pope also explained the reason behind the Synod on Synodality, and he encouraged them to actively participate in the current preparation phase.
The Spanish bishops visited the four main papal basilicas and met with the Vatican Curia's most important dicasteries.
