-“Good morning. Thank you.”
-“Thank you.”
The Pope met with the President of the Polish Senate, Tomasz Grodzki, at the Vatican.
After weeks of drawing attention to migrants on the Belarus-Poland border, the Pope asked the Polish representative for unity.
POPE FRANCIS
'This is an invitation. It says, “Filling hands with other hands.” It is unity, building unity among us. We need this, to all work toward unity.'
The President of the Senate remembered the beatification of Cardinal Wyszyński on Sept. 12. John Paul II described the blessed as a cornerstone of the entire Polish Church.
Tomasz Grodzki also gave Pope Francis the works of two Polish composers: Paderewski, who was also Prime Minister, and Pernderecki, who died in 2020.
Pope Francis said goodbye with his usual request.
POPE FRANCIS
'The Lord bless you. Pray for me, do not forget. Thank you. Thank you.'
In a meeting with journalists, the president of the senate confirmed that they discussed the situation of refugees and border control from a humanitarian and Christian perspective.
In a tweet, he signaled that this meeting confirmed that the Pope was a “great leader worried about the fate of people and the world.”
