In 2005, Cristina and her fellow parishioners arrived in Nicaragua to volunteer at a church. The trip from Spain was their response to a call for help from a Nicaraguan priest who lived in Madrid.

Seeing the situation of poverty that summer pushed them to make a drastic decision.

CRISTINA SÁNCHEZ AGUILAR
“When we left, we left everything behind. Everything we had, we left there.”

When they arrived in Madrid, they founded “Paz y Vida” (peace and life). The project offers education and food to the children they met during their journey from Nicaragua.

CRISTINA SÁNCHEZ AGUILAR
“We feed 50 children everyday, once a day. With a varied menu that includes meat, fruit, milk, carbohydrates. It's very balanced.”

The pandemic has put a strain on the NGO's resources and the aid they provide the children. That's why they are raising money using these two soccer shirts signed by Pope Francis. A small donation can bring peace and life to more than 150 children.
