To avoid creating crowds, the Vatican has announced that Pope Francis will venerate the Immaculate Conception privately. He will pray for Romans, for the city and for all the world's sick.
On the rainy morning of December 8, 2020, the Pope decided to make his way to Piazza di Spagna while it was still dark out. Then he visited the Basilica of Sant Mary Major, where he privately celebrated Mass with only a few others.
