Pope Francis walked into the Mytilene refugee camp on the Greek island of Lesbos to meet with migrants making their way into Europe. The Pope stopped to speak with many of the refugees and children now living there.

Prior to a fire which detroyed the camp in September 2020, Lesbos held the largest refugee camp in Europe, where more than 20,000 refugees where estimated to live. The Pope formerly visited refugees on the island of Lesbos in 2016.
