Cypriot authorities and religious figures gathered at the Larnaca airport in Cyprus for the Pope's departure for Greece
The President of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades accompanied Pope Francis to the plane.
They said a final goodbye, and the Pope boarded the plane to begin the next stage of his 35th international trip.
About an hour and a half later, the plane touched down at the Athens International Airport.
At the Greek capital, Pope Francis was greeted by Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias.
Then four children dressed in traditional Greek attire welcomed the Pope with flowers.
Pope Francis greeted the delegation of Greek authorities and religious figures waiting for him on the tarmac, as he made his way to the vehicle that would take him to the Presidential Palace for his meeting with Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou and civil authorities of Greece.
