French president, Emmanuel Macron, will meet with Pope Francis on Nov. 26.

The two have a good relationship, which was evident in the French leader's last visit to the Vatican.

POPE FRANCIS
“Thank you very much. May the Lord bless you. Pray for me.”

They met in 2018 and discussed the environment, religious persecution in the Middle East, conflicts in Africa, and migration in the Mediterranean.

Now, three years later, they will meet again. They will discuss France's role in northern Africa and a possible visit by Pope Francis in 2022.

This meeting will break a Vatican tradition. The French will be casting votes in April, 2022. The Pope usually does not meet with presidents during an election year. It is possible that Pope Francis is making an exception for President Macron because France will be taking over the rotating presidency of the European Union Council in the first half of 2022.
