Pope Francis will visit Assisi yet again. On Friday, Nov. 12, he will meet with a group of 500 poor people from different places in Europe.
The event was organized ahead of World Day of the Poor, which will be celebrated on Sunday, Nov. 14. This year's theme, taken from the Gospel of Matthew, is “The poor you will always have with you.”
Pope Francis established this international day five years ago. He celebrated a Mass attended by 4,000 poor people, whom he invited to lunch at the Vatican.
This will be the fifth time Pope Francis visits Assisi. He was last there on Oct. 3, 2020, for the signing of his “Fratelli Tutti” encyclical.
