Hundreds of Lutherans and Catholics made a pilgrimage to Rome together. They called their trip “With Luther to the Pope.” When it came time to meet the Pope, they greeted him with music.

-'Dear Pope Francis, dear brother in Christ....'

The Pope compared this joint pilgrimage to singing together in a choir.

POPE FRANCIS
'In the choir, no one is alone. It's important to listen to others. I want this willingness to listen for the Church. We are learning it again in the synodal process. Many voices form a song. That's also like ecumenism, in Germany and in many other parts of the world.'

Pope Francis bid them farewell and thanked them for the motto they chose for the pilgrimage: “Better all together.”
