The Swiss Guard suspended three troops who are not yet fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Another three have left the military force because they do not want to get vaccinated.
Card. Pietro Parolin signed a decree, which went into effect on Oct. 1, requiring all Vatican employees to be fully vaccinated and obtain the “green pass” proving it.
The spokesman for the Swiss Guard, Urs Breitenmoser, said that the three guards who left the corps did so voluntarily. The other three will be suspended until they complete the vaccination process.
The Swiss Guard is always in close contact with the Pope and has over 100 troops.
