The Pontifical Academy for Life will hold its annual assembly from Sept. 27 to 29.
Some changes to the program have been made because of the pandemic. Experts who advise the Holy See on matters of bioethics and medicine will reflect on the challenge of providing an equitable distribution of medical care at the global level.
Among those present will be Jules Hoffmann, the recipient of the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2011; David Barbe, the president of the World Medical Association; and Carissa Etienne, the director of the PanAmerican Health Association.
Participants will meet with Pope Francis and bestow for the first time the “Guardian of Life” Award. It will go to Dale Recinella for the support and comfort he has provided to inmates on death row in Florida.
