Shortly before making his way down the stairs to greet an eager crowd of pilgrims, Pope Francis unexpectedly took a phone call. He was handed the phone and stepped outside of the Paul VI Audience Hall for a few moments. There are no details about who the Pope spoke to or what the conversation was about.
He later returned to greet the pilgrims who came to see him, as he typically does after his Audience.
