Pope Francis resumed his General Audiences, and this Peruvian family finally had the chance to meet him.
VANESSA
“We're from Peru, but we live in Spain, and this is our first time in Rome. It was our dream to meet the Pope.”
They woke up very early in the morning to get a good spot in Paul VI Hall. They ended up very close to the front, and the Pope stopped to greet the three of them. They even captured the unforgettable moment on camera.
The three had their hands together. Pope Francis took them in his and blessed them.
MIGUEL
“It was an incomparable, powerful emotion. I don't know how to describe it. Being with my family, sharing
that moment, touching the Pope, seeing him. It's a unique feeling. I can't explain it.”
DANIELA
“He blessed us and took us by the hand. It was beautiful.”
The family is happy that they were able to see Pope Francis at his first General Audience after his surgery. For Vanesa, it was an unattainable dream, fulfilled.
VANESSA
“Honestly, for me it's an unforgettable experience because when I was younger, it seemed like an impossible dream. And today, living with my daughter, my husband and my uncle, it's really exciting.”
Their week-long stay in Rome gave them the opportunity to visit family and meet the Pope along the way.
