The 52nd International Eucharistic Congress, which will be held in Budapest, Hungary, is just over a month away. It was postponed last year because of the pandemic.

CARD. PÉTER ERDŐ
Archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest
“Since the end of the 19th century, the Church has organized international congresses in honor of the Holy Eucharist. These congresses are always opportunities to demonstrate our faith in the Eucharistic Christ.”

Each day will have a similar setup: morning prayer, catechesis, testimonials, Mass and workshops. There will also be Eucharistic Adoration and concerts.

This year's event will feature more than 60 speakers. Among them will be Hungarian President, János Áder, Cardinal Charles Bo of Myanmar, Cardinal Péter Erdő of Hungary, Cardinal Baltazar Enrique Porras from Venezuela and Cardinal Louis Raphael Sako from Iraq.

There will also be representatives of different communities, like the Shalom Catholic Community, the Cenacolo Community and the House of Prayer Community.

Other speakers include Mary Healy, one of the first women to be part of the Pontifical Biblical Commission, and Sophia Kuby, founder of European Dignity Watch, an organization committed to promoting life and the family.

The events will take place in 20 different venues throughout Budapest, including the Liszt Academy, Erkel Theatre and St. Stephen's Basilica. Most will be held at the Hungexpo Exhibition and Fair Center.

The Congress will begin on Sept. 5 and conclude on Sept. 12 with a Mass celebrated by Pope Francis in Heroes' Square.
