The Vatican is breathing a sigh of relief after doctors have ruled out that the Pope is suffering from any serious diseases.

His Wednesday medical report is overwhelmingly positive. It says:

“The final histological examination has confirmed a severe diverticular stenosis with signs of sclerosing diverticulitis.”

Doctors say the Pope's progress is normal. He is eating regularly and is no longer being fed intravenously.

There is no word on exactly how long he will remain in the hospital, and it has yet to be announced whether the Pope will publicly pray the Angelus this Sunday.

Behind these windows on the tenth floor of Rome's Gemelli Hospital, the Pope continues to rest. Vatican sources say he is “touched by the many messages and the affection received in in these days,” and is grateful for people's closeness and their prayers.
