The Pope sent a message to scientists participating in the International Meeting “Science for Peace,” held in the Italian city of Teramo.
POPE FRANCIS
“Never before as in this time have we been aware of the need to relaunch scientific research to face the challenges of contemporary society. And I am happy that the diocesan community of Teramo is promoting this event, which shows that there cannot and must not be any opposition between faith and science.”
He underlines the importance of science and explains that scientific progress must take place in coordination with other forms of knowledge.
POPE FRANCIS
“Science is a great resource for building peace! I ask you to accompany the formation of new generations, teaching them not to be afraid of the effort of research.”
The Pope congratulated these scientists, calling them “teachers of a new generation of peacemakers.”
