“We will hear arguments in Roe against Wade.”
“You may proceed.”

Roe v. Wade is most commonly known as the court case that legalized abortion in the United States. But Nick Loeb, the director of “Roe v. Wade,” the movie, knew there was much more to it that most people didn't know anything about.

NICK LOEB
Director and Actor, “Roe v. Wade”
“I think most people think the story's about a woman who wanted to get an abortion, she wasn't allowed to have one, she went to court and got an abortion. Well, that's not really-- That has nothing to do with Roe. That wasn't what Roe was. Organizations were looking to legalize abortion in America, and they went to look for a girl. They found a girl, they got her to sign up, they lied to her, they manipulated her. She never even had an abortion. And then they lied and manipulated the media.”

“I wanted to get abortion legalized across the country.”

The story is narrated by the film's protagonist, Bernard Nathanson, played by Nick Loeb himself.

NICK LOEB
Director and Actor, “Roe v. Wade”
“He was the biggest abortionist in American history. He was one of the founders of the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws. He oversaw 70,000 abortions himself. And he was one of the guys who came up in light about all the fake numbers and the fake statistics, and then admitted it years later, that he'd made all this up. And he converted and became pro-life later on in his life.”

“Roe v. Wade” draws upon primary sources to reveal the truth behind this complex court case that has shaped politics and the media in the United States.

NICK LOEB
Director and Actor, “Roe v. Wade”
“Speeches, letters, interviews. We got court transcripts. And then we researched anybody who touched the case. I mean, every single judge, every justice, everybody who was in court, people involved.”

The “Roe v. Wade” production team even put up a fact-check website to accompany the film. The movie goes beyond the long-standing, often heated debate on abortion to simply recreate, as accurately as possible, one of the most controversial court cases in United States history.
