Pope Francis addressed a group of young scouts from the Scouts Unitaires de France at the Vatican on Friday.
He praised them for their example as young people leading lives filled with hope.

“Your scout movement is a sign of encouragement for young people, because it invites them to dream and to act, to have the courage to look to the future with hope.”
For 50 years the Scouts Unitaires de France has formed young adults from ages 8 to 25 in Catholic principles, such as simple living, a love for nature, and an enthusiasm for life.

“The primary vocation of a scout: to serve. To become active, happy adults. Fervent believers.”
Pope Francis reminded them of the power of faith in forming deep relationships and working towards the common good.

“You have the noble mission of witnessing wherever you go, with your faith and your commitment, that you can enhance the richness of human relationships and make them a common good that leads to social renewal.”
The Pope's message to these young people came after he spoke about the importance of children at a conference on the family earlier in the day.
