During the General Audience, the Pope asked for an end to the violent repression in Myanmar following the military coup in February, and recalled the actions of this woman religious.

POPE FRANCIS
Many people, especially young people, are losing their lives to give hope to their country. I too kneel in the streets of Myanmar and say, “End the violence.” I too reach out my arms and say, “May dialogue prevail.” Bloodshed solves nothing. May dialogue prevail.

Cardinal Charles Bo, Archbishop of Yangon, published this video on YouTube. In it, he asks the military to listen to the will of the people.

Pope Francis also asked for peace and dialogue in Paraguay, where corruption and a slow response to the pandemic have caused thousands of people to take to the streets to demand that government leaders step down.

POPE FRANCIS
This week I have been concerned about the news from Paraguay. FLASH May a path of sincere dialogue be found to find adequate solutions to the present difficulties, and thus build together the longed-for peace. Let us remember that violence is always self-destructive. Nothing is gained through it, but much is lost, and sometimes everything.

Pope Francis also explained the role of the Holy Spirit in Christian prayer.

POPE FRANCIS
The Holy Spirit “reminds” us of Jesus and makes Him present to us. We can say He is our Trinitarian memory, the memory of God in us. He is our “reminder”. He makes Jesus present so that He is not reduced to a character from the past. That is, the Holy Spirit makes Jesus present in our conscience.

The Pope compared the Holy Spirit’s actions to the candle beside the tabernacle in a church: a light that's always burning, even if no one sees it.
