Fifteen ambassadors to the Holy See joined forces to make a video for International Women’s Day. They draw attention to the pope’s reforms to give women a bigger role in the Church.
CHIARA PORRO
Australian Ambassador to the Holy See
“As female ambassadors, we are so pleased that Pope Francis is appointing so many capable women to senior positions in the Vatican.”
Representatives from countries like Spain, France, the Philippines and Canada, among others, recalled Pope Francis’ commitment to promoting girls’ education and to reducing the number of victims of human trafficking and violence.
GRACE RELUCIO PRINCESA
Ambassador of the Philippines to the Holy See
“Being a survivor of domestic violence, I’m glad that Pope Francis joins other voices to discuss, prevent and mitigate this silent killer.”
The fact that today there are more female ambassadors to the Holy See than ever before is a clear indicator of social change. Pope Francis recognizes the tremendous impact their active participation can have on society and the Church.
