Pope Francis' final day in Iraq was the most emotional. His visit to areas heavily damaged by war fueled their inhabitants' enthusiasm.
Pope Francis visited Mosul and Qaraqosh. Upon exiting the Church of the Immaculate Conception, rebuilt after ISIS destroyed it, the pope was met with shouts from excited crowds waiting to greet him. They lined the streets of the city they want to rebuild from the ashes. After Qaraqosh, the pope returned to Erbil to celebrate Mass.
