In his video message for the month of March, Pope Francis points out the importance of the sacrament of reconciliation. He explains that confession heals the soul and that we go to confession “to leave with greater spiritual health. To pass from misery to mercy.”
“The center of confession is not the sins we declare, but the divine love we receive, of which we are always in need,” says the pope. He says Jesus is the center of confession and that “in the heart of God, we come before our mistakes.”
He invited Catholics to pray for a deeper experience of the sacrament of reconciliation and “that God may give His Church merciful priests and not torturers.”
