“We have a gift God gave us, but it's up to us to cultivate it, to study and everything else. So for me it's very important, when I think about making music, that I do it well. If God gave everything for us, how can we do things halfway? For me it's very important through music, prayer and closeness with God, to do things as best as I can, as God deserves.”

“Among the best settings for my singing are the 'holy hours' in front of the Blessed Sacrament, where Jesus is alive and present in the Eucharist. For me it's wonderful when after Mass or Adoration, someone comes up to me, sometimes crying or with a profound experience to share, and tells me, 'This song healed my heart,' or 'I cried thanks to this song' or 'I felt God's presence in my heart.' Knowing that it was because of my voice is a feeling I can't describe.”
While in quarantine because of the pandemic, Marycarmen was inspired to release her latest work, “¡Venceremos!”, Spanish for “we will triumph.”
She's convinced that this difficult period has helped people see beyond the superficial to what is truly important.
