Pope Francis will return to the most famous window in Rome, the window of the Apostolic Palace, this Sunday for the Angelus.
POPE FRANCIS
March 8 2020
“It's a little strange, praying the Angelus today, with the pope 'caged' in the library, but I see you. I am close to you.”
This will be the second time the pope resumes this tradition since the pandemic began. It was one of the first measures the Vatican took after March 8, 2020, to prevent large crowds from gathering.
He first resumed the Sunday Angelus in St. Peter's Square in early June, but in winter it was streamed from the Apostolic Palace library.
Now Romans and pilgrims will be able to join the pope in person every Sunday, though access to St. Peter's Square will be limited to guarantee physical distancing.
In the meantime, the Vatican continues to vaccinate its employees. Last Jan. 13 Pope Francis became one of the first people to receive the first dose, and the Vatican has confirmed that he has already received the second dose.
