Jonathan Funes is a Honduran priest who has been passionate about music since he was a child.
His most recent composition is called “Yo te amaré,” Spanish for “I will love you.” The song was inspired by his experiences, especially of seeing how people live out love and listening to many married couples in his 10 years as a priest.

“It's about discovering that love isn't all about feelings. It's a decision, a daily fight. It's inviting God. I say it in the song. It's knowing that if the Lord is present, He will help us persevere.”
He always thought he would become a famous singer, but God had other plans. During the pandemic he turned to social media and started sending short reflections to his parishioners, who would share them with others. This is what made his name known around the world.

“That was a source of grace. I never thought I would preach. I was even afraid to preach. I've been singing since I was a kid. FLASH I couldn't preach without music though, so I combined the two. My love for music and my love for the Word come together in the daily reflections.”
He says it's a way to use his talents as tools to evangelize and bring hope to the world, especially in these difficult times.

“The central goal of the daily reflections is to show you that God is with you, that He accompanies you, that He's never abandoned you, that He is at your side through all your difficulties. It's opening the Word of God and its treasures, and it's thanking the Lord for what He is: a living God, a God who is near.”
He's currently promoting “Nada es imposible,” “Nothing is impossible.” It's a lay community, still in the diocesan approval phase, whose objective is to proclaim that for God and those who need Him most, nothing is impossible.
