During the Angelus on the Feast of the Holy Family, the pope made an important announcement. He said that next March 19 would be the inauguration of a year dedicated to the family. The motive behind it is to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the publication of the Amoris Laetitia document. It will conclude on June 26, 2022, with the tenth World Meeting of Families.

POPE FRANCIS
It will be an opportunity to focus more closely on the contents of the document. As of now, I invite everyone to take part in the initiatives that will be promoted during the year, and that will be coordinated by the Dicastery for the Laity, the Family, and Life.

The pope took the opportunity of Feast of the Holy Family to recall how important it is to preserve unity in the family and that there should always be forgiveness.

POPE FRANCIS
It is true, in every family there are problems, and at times arguments. “Father, I argued...” We are human, we are weak, and we all quarrel within the family at times. I would like to say something to you: if you argue within the family, do not end the day without making peace.

The pope also said that this year will be an occasion to reflect on the family and its role in people’s education.
