Pope Francis, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby and Moderator of the Church of Scotland Rev. Martin Fair, wanted to visit South Sudan last March.
The trip was postponed because of the pandemic, but they have maintained their promise.
It's what they say in a joint letter to political leaders in South Sudan.
The three religious leaders remind them of “the commitments made at the Vatican in April 2019,” to bring South Sudan “to a smooth implementation of the peace agreement.”
South Sudan has been struggling to emerge from internal conflict that has killed an estimated 400,000 people. Violence has surged in recent months, further setting back the peace process.
