Pope Francis asked catechists, priests, and religious members to spend as much time as necessary in the formation of people with disabilities. He says they are a resource for the community that should not be lost.
The pope said this in his message on the World Day of Persons with Disabilities. He expressed that the current health emergency increased the marginalization of the most vulnerable.

“The virus, while it does not distinguish between people, has found, in its devastating path, great inequalities and discrimination, and it has exacerbated them!”
The pope also calls on people with disabilities to teach catechism, according to their abilities.
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was established in 1981 by the UN. They estimate that currently, 15% of the world's population lives with disabilities.
