Polish cardinal Henryk Gulbinowicz died on Nov. 16 at the age of 97.
Just 10 days before his death, the Vatican had announced its decision to impose restrictions on the retired cardinal following an investigation of sexual abuse allegations involving him.
Due to the restrictions, Gulbinowicz cannot be buried in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Wroclaw, his former archdiocese.
His death leaves the College of Cardinals at 229. Out of those, 128 can vote in a future conclave.
