Cristiano and Fabiana say these General Audiences in the Courtyard of San Damaso offer a great opportunity to see Pope Francis up close. Previously, when audiences were held in St. Peter's Square, it was more challenging to do so.
They were able to greet the pope and tell him they are expecting a child. The emotion they felt was indescribable.

“As soon as he saw that Fabiana was pregnant, he asked, 'When will this child be born?' We told him January. He immediately blessed the baby and left happily. He was very pleased.”
Fabiana works in a hospital that treated coronavirus patients. During his catechesis, the pope spoke about health professionals who have been working during the pandemic.

They have an essential role in today's society, even though their merits are not often recognized nor rewarded.

In fact, the pope stressed the importance of being people who care not only for others but for the world. Throughout these weeks, the pontiff has been reflecting on the need to build a society of greater solidarity that can react effectively in times of crisis.
