On Saturday, Oct. 3, the pope will visit Assisi to sign his new encyclical, “Fratelli Tutti,” “Brothers All.”
He will arrive in Assisi at 3 p.m. and celebrate Mass at the saint's tomb. Due to the pandemic, the visit will be private, without the presence of pilgrims. The pope will be in the town only for the liturgy and the signing of the document. Then he will immediately return to the Vatican.
The signing of the encyclical will take place on the eve of the feast day of St. Francis, which is celebrated on Oct. 4. That is the day chosen for the document's publication. It will be available from Sunday at 12 p.m., Rome time.
