On Saturday, Sept. 5, the Vatican officially confirmed the pope's intention to publish a new encyclical, entitled, “Fratelli tutti.” It translates as “All brothers,” though the definitive English title has not yet been released.

POPE FRANCIS
May 14, 2020
“We are all brothers and sisters. St Francis of Assisi used to say, “All brothers and sisters.” Thus, men and women of every religious confession, we unite ourselves today in prayer and penance to ask for the grace of healing from this pandemic.”

On Oct. 3, Pope Francis will travel to the Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi, where he will celebrate Mass and sign the encyclical. To mitigate public health risks, the private visit will not take place in the presence of the faithful.

The new document will likely focus on human fraternity, which has been a central theme of the current pontificate.

In fact, one of the lessons of the pandemic is the link that unites people's destinies, for the solution depends on everyone.
